Veterans Day Events Friday, November 11th

Veterans Story Swap and Special Ceremony – The City will honor all veterans with a special program featuring a keynote address by retired U.S. Army Capt. Florent “Flo” Groberg. Musical entertainment will be provided by the School of the Arts Jazz Band.  Veterans interested in attending should contact [email protected] or the Recreation Department at 843-745-1028.

USO Days Veteran’s Day Weekend @ Joseph Manigault House – This Veteran’s Day weekend explore the history of the Joseph Manigault house.  During WWII this site was used as a USO post and Red Cross training facility.  Soldiers attended dinners, parties, played games, and wrote to their families while here in the 1940s.

5th Annual Smoke on the Harbor BBQ Throwdown – This culinary event will take place on November 11th & 12th at the Lookout Pavilion at Charleston Harbor Resort & Marina and will once again be fully sanctioned by The Kansas City Barbeque Society. Competition categories for Friday nights State Championship will include: Chicken Wings.

Holiday Festival of Lights Opening Weekend!– Each year, thousands of families create lasting memories at the Holiday Festival of Lights, where millions of multicolored lights illuminate the sky throughout 52 enchanting nights. Journey through three miles of over 700 magical light displays of all shapes and sizes.

Charleston Night Market – Area ​Artists and Artisans will take over the Charleston City Market as  THE NIGHT MARKET continues this weekend! The Night Market is located in the Charleston City Market, Charleston’s #1 most visited attraction; a venue where over 50 area artisans, artists, food vendors, and local musicians gather together, each Friday, Saturday & night, to create a memorable evening. 6:30 pm-10:30 pm.

Sweat Tea Festival: Half Marathon – Enjoy 13.1 miles that begins in the center of  town and takes you on to our recreational running path and through some of our lovely neighborhoods ending back in the center of town. While running, you will enjoy live entertainment as well as lively water stations.

Charleston Farmers Market – Located in Marion Square in the heart of Historic District in Downtown Charleston, SC, the CFM is open each Saturday, from April 9th through November 26th, 8 AM to 2 PM. There are a variety of local produce, plants, herbs and cut flowers as well as breakfast and lunch vendors, live entertainment and an assortment of juried arts and crafts from local artisans.

Johns Island Homegrown Farmers Market – The aim of Homegrown is to be a point of sustainable connection for the Lowcountry community. Oysters For Autism Oyster Roast – Enjoy a night of live music, oysters, drinks, and a silent auction at Bowens Island! All proceeds will benefit individuals and families living with Autism Spectrum Disorder and who are helped by the Lowcountry Autism Foundation at the MUSC Children’s Hospital.
