Friday, March 6th
Guest Beverage Professionals – The Cocktail Club is hosting some key VIP guest beverage professionals for a special pop-up tasting during this year’s Charleston Wine + Food Festival. The events set for Friday, March 6 and Saturday, March 7 will be from 3:00-5:00PM and costs $5 for two drink tickets. Friday’s featured pros are Miles Macquarrie from The Kimball House in Atlanta, GA and Saturday’s is Sarah Marie Martin of Dixie Vodka.
Divine Demonstration Dinner – Twenty Six Divine will be open for a special Divine Demonstration Dinner. Twenty Six Divine owners, Chef Enan and Chef Jennifer Parezo, recently added the Friday dinner to accommodate guests unable to reserve a seat at their sold out Saturday night Wine & Food Festival dinner. The demonstration dinner includes three courses prepared amongst guests. Reservations are required and can be made by calling (843) 297-8118. Limited seating is available. Dinner begins at 6:30pm, is $85 per person and includes wine pairings.
Saturday, March 7th
Rugged Maniac – The 5th annual Rugged Maniac is returning to Boone Hall Plantation on March 7th with 25 epic obstacles and 1 rockin’ party! Run the 3-mile course where you’ll climb towers of shipping containers, rocket down a massive water slide, crawl through underground tunnels, leap over fire and experience some BIG new obstacles (trampolines?!) Beer will be flowing from Harpoon Brewery so be sure to snag one (or two) while you enjoy an awesome day outdoors!
Center for Birds of Prey Re-Opening – After being closed for construction, the Center for Birds of Prey will be celebrating its re-opening with guided walking tours, new birds, flight demonstrations, behind-the-scenes viewing of Avian Medical Clinic and Oil-spill Response Facility, and hands-on opportunities with avian artifacts. Food and beverages will be available for purchase, and parking is free. This event starts at 10 a.m. and cost is $15 per person. Call (843) 971-7474 for more info.
Mullet Hall Trail Run – Run the scenic trails of the Mullet Hall Equestrian Center. Sport your mullet, authentic or artificial; prizes will be awarded for the best mullet. The awards ceremony and a party with live music and beverages will be held immediately following both races. Online registration ends Mar 6. There are 2 options for courses to register and fees range from $28-$44. Race starts at 8:30 a.m. at Mullet Hall Road on Johns Island.
Christ Our King Oyster Roast – The choir of Christ our King will present an oyster roast fundraiser from 6-9 p.m. on Gold Bug Island, featuring oysters, chili, hot dogs, a bake sale, silent auction and more. Beer and wine will be available. $25 advance; $30 at-the-door; free for children ages 11 years and under. For more information, call 843-884-5587.
Rocket Man: A Tribute to Sire Elton John – Rocket Man is a tribute to Sir Elton John performed by Columbia, S.C.-based rock quartet Tokyo Joe, with former Elton John drummer Charlie Morgan and costume replicas. 7 p.m. doors, 8 p.m. show. $25 orchestra, $20 gallery. Sunday, March 8th
Vickery’s Spring Oyster Roast – Enjoy oyster buckets, a Bloody Mary bar, shrimp, and BBQ, with music by Plane Jane. Proceeds will benefit the Tanzanian Education Foundation. Cooking with Wine – Popular Southern food authority and writer Virginia Willis has cooked with Julia Child, prepared lunch for President Clinton and appeared on numerous television shows.
