Friday, July 26

  • Citadel Lady Bulldogs Football Clinic. Learn how the Citadel football team plans to win in their 2013 season. Attendees will get a behind-the-scenes tour of the locker rooms, hear what the coaches’ wives speak about the upcoming season, and run plays on the Bulldogs’ field. Dinner, event t-shirt, and goody bag are included. 4:30 p.m.- 9:00 p.m. $50 per person. Register online.

  • Screwtape Letters. C.S. Lewis’ classic tale about a young demon is adapted for the stage in this limited engagement. Sottile Theater at the College of Charleston. Student tickets are $25; adult tickets range from $39 to $59. Show begins at 8 p.m. (additional performances Saturday, July 27 at 4 p.m. and 8 p.m.).

  • Moonlight Mixer. Dance the night away on the Folly Beach Edwin S. Taylor Fishing Pier. The event will be held at the Pavilion at the end of the pier. Drinks will be available for purchase on-site; food will be available at Locklear’s Beach City Grill or the Gangplank Gift and Tackle Shop at the entrance to the pier. Advance admission is $10 for non-Charleston County residents, and $8 for residents. If the event is not sold out, tickets will be available the night of the event for $10 per person.

 Saturday, July 27

  • Ladybug Release at Magnolia Plantation. Help introduce over 70,000 ladybugs to their new home in Magnolia Plantation’s 60 acre garden. The fun begins at 10 a.m. This event is free with the plantation’s $15 entrance fee.

  • Charleston Farmers Market. See what’s in season this week. Browse over 100 kiosks for fresh produce, local art, and fresh food. Marion Square. 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Free.

 

Sunday, July 28

  • 23rd Annual Charleston Sprint Triathalon. Swim, bike and run at James Island County Park in this third race of the 2013 Charleston Sprint Triathalon series. The race begins at 7:15 AM. Tickets are $55–purchase early as the event is limited to 400 participants and often sells out.

  • Cape Romain Lighthouse Tour. Visit Lighthouse Island, located five miles off of the Charleston shore, on this popular eco-tour offered only a few times a year. Keep a lookout for native birds, nesting Loggerhead turtles, and friendly dolphins. Entrance to one of the lighthouses is included in the fee. $45 per person. Tickets must be purchased online.
