Saturday is College of Charleston Night at The Joe. The RiverDogs help kick off the new school year and welcome incoming freshmen to the Lowcountry. College of Charleston basketball head coach Earl Grant will be throwing out the first pitch to baseball head coach Matt Heath. The Cougars cheerleading and dance squads will be entertaining fans throughout the game as well. The entire Charleston Southern baseball team will be in attendance as well. Family events and activities in Charleston this weekend
Free Movie Night at Mount Pleasant Memorial Waterfront Park – This August the Town of Mount Pleasant and Cinebarre will team up to present outdoor movies at Mount Pleasant’s Waterfront Park. Each screening is free to attend and there will be food and drinks available for purchase. Feel free to bring blankets and lounge chairs to the any of the 6 pm showings. This week’s movie is Guardians of The Galaxy.

Grape Stomping Festival – It’s going to be a “grape” time at the 12th Annual Grape Stomping Festival. Visitors can stomp local muscadines for the Grape Stomping Contest, compete in the annual Lucy Look-Alike Contest and enjoy a fun-filled day under the oaks at Charleston’s only vineyard and winery. Admission is only $10.00 per car, with a portion of the proceeds benefitting Pet Helpers and Frierson Elementary School. To fuel the visitors who want to stomp to victory, local food vendors will be on-site including: Chucktown Mobile Seafood, Costal Crust, Home Team BBQ, Korki’s Cafe, Sweet Lulu’s Bakery, Old Salt Gourmet Pretzels, King of Pops, and Ben & Jerry’s. Music will be provided byRawberry Jam and Pierce Edens.

Lowcountry Waterjam 2 – Water Jam 2, a water sports and music festival, will be held this Saturday at Trophy Lakes in Johns Island. The family-friendly event will include live music, Tiki bar, paddle boarding, kayaking, kiteboards, wakeboards, festival foods, jet ski competition, water skiing and jet boarding. A portion of the proceeds benefits Limbs Without Limits. Water Jam 2 runs from noon until 6 pm. Don’t forget your towels and tubes!
