5th Annual Charleston Film Festival Come out to the Terrace Theatre for the Charleston Film Festival running March 13th-17th. Packed with a variety of regional and international films and documentaries, this festival aims to expand your taste for a unique and creative cinema produced from around the world. Tickets are $10.
Sebastian Smith: Fashion Photography The Michael Mitchell Gallery is proud to present a fashion photography exhibit by renowned photographer and 2014 judge of Charleston Fashion Week, Sebastian Smith. The exhibit will feature shots from a variety of fashion houses as well as editorial takes. The opening reception starts at 6 p.m. on Friday, March 14th and will be on display through March 22nd.
Improv Jam Join the Theatre 99 company members for Improv Jam! This fast-paced and witty performance takes suggestions from the audience and turns them into hilarious comedy sketches. Tickets are $10 and there will be one performance on Friday, March 14th and another on Friday, March 28th.
Saturday, March 15th: Saint Patrick’s Day!
Sullivans Island: Sections of Middle Street, located in the commercial district, will be shutdown to have its annual St. Patty’s day block party. Festivities begin at 10 a.m. and wrap up at 6 p.m. Dunleavy’s, Poe’s Tavern, Hometeam Barbecue and others will be providing the drinks for purchase at the event.
Park Circle, Mount Pleasant: Come out to Park Circle for a fun, family event fit for all ages. There will be live music on three separate stages featuring local artists like Charleston Hot Shots, Folkgrass, The Three Dudes, and the Ryan Perry Band. Activities will be available for the kids and a variety of food vendors will be available.
Folly Beach: Take on the St. Patty’s Day challenge on Folly Beach with a charity pub crawl! Participating bars and restaurants include Snapper Jacks, Blu, Loggerheads, Planet Follywood, and Surfbar. Restaurants will be featuring food and drink specials as well St. Patty themed games. Center Street will also feature fun for all ages with bagpipers, fiddlers, Irish step dancers, floats, and a team of mascots. The fun starts at noon on Saturday!
Downtown: King Street will feature its annual St. Patrick’s Day parade on Saturday. A traditional Mass will be held at St. Patrick’s church at 8 a.m. and the parade starts at 10 a.m. at the intersection of King Street and Radcliffe and ends at Broad Street. There will be over 1,000 participants including our honorable military servicemen and women, Irish step dancers, bagpipers, floats and more!
Sunday, March 16th
Yoga in the park. Join expert instructors, Chelsea Atilla of Sola Yoga and Natalie Halt of Gather Yoga, for a unique, outdoor yoga session at Caonnon Park at 131 Rutledge Avenue downtown. Discover your true self through the practice of meditation while taking in the energy of the outdoors. This event will be held at 3 p.m on Sunday and they are asking for a $10 donation.
Customer Appreciation Day-Charleston County Parks. Enjoy free admission to James Island Country Parks, Ravenel Caw Caw Interpretive Center, Mt. Pleasant Palmetto Islands, Kiawah Beachwalker Park, Isle of Palms County Park, Folly Beach County Park, and North Charleston Wannamaker Park. In addition, there will be no fee for fishing off of the Mt. Pleasant pier or the Folly Beach Edwin S. Taylor Fishing Pier.
Full Moon Lunacy Party. Have a howl of a time at Lunacy, the full moon party at Voodoo! DJ Rehab will be performing all night and the event will also feature Capoeira dancers and hot Hula hoop girls. 3 bucks will get you in the door and the party lasts all night!
