Matt Anderson Properties is excited that the weather in the Lowcountry is warming up, and the weekend events are moving outdoors. See what’s happening in the Charleston area this weekend:

Friday, May 3

  • Party at the Point. This concert series is in full swing this week with Daggermuffin and Old You take the stage. Doors open at 5:30, and the first band takes the stage at 6:30. Cash bar. Cover charge $7 per person. Don’t forget your blanket or beach chair.

  • The Sound of Charleston. Charleston’s history has influences from all over the world–Scotland, England, France, and Africa, to name a few–and there’s no better way to experience it than through song. Experience the number 2 attraction in Charleston according to TripAdvisor.com. The concert is held at the Circular Congregational Church in downtown Charleston (150 Meeting Street) and begins at 7 PM. Tickets are $28 for adults, $25 for seniors and military, $16 for students, and free for children 12 and under. Order tickets here.

Saturday, May 4

  • Movies at Wannamaker County Park. Enjoy a beautiful Lowcountry evening watching Wreck-it Ralph under the stars. Bring your own blankets, chairs and leashed pets to the Wannamaker County Park at 8888 University Boulevard in North Charleston. Movie begins at sundown (approximately 8 PM). Free with $1 park entrance fee.

  • Kahuna on the Cooper. Break out your lucky rod and reel for a chance to win a new boat or trailer in this fishing competition held at the Mount Pleasant Pier. Categories include Youth Angler, Lady Angler and Senior Angler. 6 AM-4 PM. Register online before Thursday at midnight, or at 6:00 AM the morning of the tournament. Free.

  • Farmer’s Market. The Charleston County Farmer’s Market is back again this Saturday in Marion Square. 8 AM-2 PM. Free admission.

  • The Biggest Loser Casting Call. Are you ready to start yourself on a new path? See if you have what it takes to be on NBC’s 16th season of The Biggest Loser. Be at the Music Farm downtown (32 Ann Street) from 10 AM- 6PM. Pre-register online. Free.

  • Fort Sumter and Beyond Kayak Tour. See two of Charleston’s iconic sights from a new perspective as you paddle out to Fort Sumter and Morris Island. Meet at the Charleston County Parks and Recreation Headquarters at 861 Riverland Drive, Charleston, SC. 9 AM-1 PM. $48 non-Charleston County Residents/ $40 residents. Sunday, May 5

  • 5th Annual Crawfish Boil. Join your friends at Fiery Ron’s Hometeam BBQ at their West Ashley (1205 Ashley River Road) location for music and delicious food. $10 admission includes one plate of crawfish; additional plates will be sold for $5. The fun starts at noon.

  • “Meet Your Local Farmers” Reception. Learn more about the people behind your favorite ingredients this weekend at this event held at the Fat Hen Restaurant on John’s Island (3140 Maybank Highway). Food provided by local farmers will be paired with cocktails from Firefly Distillery. Ticket price includes four station tastings with an alcoholic beverage at each station. $45 per person.
