Friday, February 7th

First Friday on Broad – An exciting, recurring event that, as the name suggests, takes place on the first Friday of each month. On these Fridays, Gallery Row on Historic Broad Street opens all of their fine art galleries and boutiques for the public to peruse while enjoying refreshments and drink. The event is hosted by The Broad Street Merchants Association. Free to the public. 5:00 – 8:00 p.m.

Gourmet and Grapes – Come out for a weekend-long culinary extravaganza that raises money for cancer research at the Hollings Cancer Center. Gourmet and Grapes brings together renowned chefs for a weekend full of food and wine that is sure to dazzle. Events begin on Friday evening and range from black-tie exclusive dining experiences to seminars and galas throughout the weekend! Event pricing from $50 to $250, The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island Golf Resort.

Valentine’s Warm Up: Wine and Chocolate Tasting – Want to partake in a FREE wine and chocolate tasting this weekend?! Charleston Sweet Gourmet is offering just that to get the community excited about the romance (and deliciousness) that Valentines Day is! Vidalco International Wine Distributors and Johnny from Sweeteeth Chocolate will be working together to bring guests delicious pairings! 5:30 – 7:30pm at Charleston Sweet Gourmet, 36 Windermere Blvd.

Saturday, February 8th

Third Annual Cork Shuckin’ Festival – Holy City Seafood oysters are will be the main delight at this wonderful, afternoon event! Other delights include catering from Stono Cafe, Coastal Crust and Dulce and all food will be accompanied with beer and liquor from our local Firefly distillery. One Kool Blow, one of Charleston’s favorite bands will be playing all afternoon and people of all ages (including kids!) are welcomed and encouraged to join in the fun. The oyster roast begins at 1 p.m. $20 all you can eat or $10 per bucket.

Bacon and Bourbon – When you think of delicious food pairings, one that can’t be overlooked is bacon and bourbon. This special event celebrates just that with 13 premier chefs delivering unique dishes that feature both. Everything from bacon sandwiches to  bacon flavored cotton candy will be paired with bourbon from 18 different distilleries. Notable chef’s include Laird Boles of Salt at Station 22, Dan Doyle of Poogan’s Porch and Brian Parkhurst of Ted’s Butcherblock. Party starts at 7:30 p.m., $60 tickets to purchase in advance. Memminger Auditorium, 56 Beaufain Street.

George Benson Solo Guitar Performance – The Grammy Award-winning jazz and soul guitarist will be performing this weekend at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center. It will be a tribute to Nat King Cole and will feature the Charleston Pops. The North Charleston Performing Arts Center is a much more intimate experience than the Coliseum provides. Tickets start at $55. Doors open at 7 p.m.

Sunday, February 9th

Mardi Gras Krewe of Charleston Family Fun Event – This fun food festival is The Charleston Mardi Gras Finale and will include a parade, face painting, a masquerade contest and more! The Charleston Convention Center, 10 a.m.  $15 per person.

Open Cockpit Sunday – Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum invites the public to  explore the cockpits of some of the museums most popular aircraft. Children under 12 are admitted for free! Adult tickets are $20 and include 10 tastings of the finest Mac n’ Cheese Charleston chefs have to offer! These aircraft are not available to tour during regular tours of the USS Yorktown. 10 a.m.-4 p.m., 40 Patriots Point Road in Mt. Pleasant, SC.
