Friday December 7

French Quarter Art Walk – Enjoy strolling the French Quarter with wine and appetizers while meeting with local artists and viewing their work, all within the festively decorated French Quarter neighborhood. It will be a great evening with just about 30 art galleries open to browse. Free! 5pm-8pm. Located between S. Market and Tradd, Meeting Street and the waterfront.

Growout Blowout Finale – Throughout the month of November, MovemberCharleston has been moving around town to the best brew houses and bars, throwing parties to raise money and awareness for testicular cancer. Join the Movember Movement at Palmetto Brewing for their last hoorah! Enjoy local brews, local food and local music and enter yourself or a buddy into the best mustache contest. Free, but brews and food are available for purchase! 6pm-9pm. Palmetto Brewing. 289 Huger Street, Charleston.

Christmas 1860 – You’ll be able to fall back in time at this event by celebrating a Victorian holiday season by candlelight in historic downtown Charleston. The Edmondston-Alston House is opening it’s doors and inviting the public to enjoy a Christmas set in the year 1860, complete with decorations, costumed interpreters and dramatic scenes that will help guests explore what it may have felt like celebrating Christmas just before the beginning of the Civil War. $20 in advance, $25 at the door. 6:30pm-8:30pm. Edmondston-Alston House, 21 East Battery, Charleston.

2nd Annual Pitmaster Backyard BBQ – It seems as though every weekend there is some sort of barbeque event in the Lowcountry, and hey – no one is complaining about this! We have some of the best barbeque in America so it’s only fitting that the best of the best constantly compete for bragging rights. Home Team BBQ is West Ashley is hosting this backyard bbq and will feature pitmasters from St. Simons Island. BBQ varieties will include whole hog, brisket and all kinds of sides and snacks. Specialty cocktails will be available from High Wire Distilling and beer from Holy City will be available. All the funds will go toward Grow Food Carolina. Tickets are $45 per person. 7pm. Saturday December 6

A Christmas Carol: The Play – Enjoy talented, local actors perform in the holiday classic “A Christmas Carol”. This play promises special effects, spectacular scenery and wonderful music! $22-$57 per ticket. 7:30pm. Dock Street Theater, 135 Church Street

24th Annual Reindeer Run – Join thousands of other run-lovers, dog-lovers, holiday-lovers, costume-lovers and/or beer-lovers for Charleston’s 24th annual reindeer run! Dogs are welcome! Costumes are encouraged! And the beer will be abundant! The race begins and ends at Southend Brewery on East Bay Street and then there is an after party that continues throughout the day. Happy hour prices will go on throughout the day at Southend Brewery and a portion of the proceeds will go toward The Reindeer Run beneficiaries. $40 race entry. 9am. Southend Brewery and Smokehouse, 161 East Bay Street.

Official Tree Lighting Ceremony and Holiday MarketMarion Square is known to host some of the best outdoor markets in the South and the Holiday Market and Tree Lighting Ceremony does not disappoint! Kick off your holiday season by heading to Marion Square from 9am-4pm for a festive holiday market filled with good food, good drinks and even better gifts to give to everyone on your list! Then stick around for the official tree lighting ceremony! Free! 9am-6pm. Tree lighting begins at 4pm. Marion Square, Downtown Charleston.
