Friday, December 19th

Nutcracker Christmas in CharlestonCBT’s Center for Dance Education: The Nutcracker:  – The Charleston Ballet Theatre is proud to present the Christmas classic: The Nutcracker which will be held at the Sottile Theatre in downtown Charleston. Tickets range from $37.50 – $45. Show times: 10 a.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Old South Santa Sleigh Ride – Harness some holiday fun and climb aboard this specially decorated carriage driven by none other than Santa Claus! This festive 20-minute ride through downtown Charleston – complete with hot cocoa, cookies, and Christmas carols – is sure to make you merry. Bring your camera for a photo with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Blankets are available.

SC Stingrays vs. Orlando Solar Bears – Bring the whole family out to the North Charleston Coliseum as the South Carolina Stingrays take on division rival Solar Bears. This Friday enjoy a family 4-pack deal that includes four tickets, hotdogs, drinks  and popcorn for $55.

Saturday, December 20th

Grand Illumination at Middelton Place in Charleston, SCGrand Illumination And Dinner Buffet – This lively event celebrates the return of Arthur Middleton from Philadelphia, the end of the Revolutionary War in the South and the departure from Charleston of the occupying British troops. Warm fires, dramatic tableaux and presentations, historic beverages, plus a traditional buffet dinner will help make Grand Illumination a memorable part of your holiday season.

The Night Before Christmas – Featuring musicians from the Chamber Music Charleston’s mentoring program, this classic holiday tale will come to life with dancers from the Ballet Academy of Charleston and classical music featuring winners from the Chamber Music Charleston’s vocal competition. Tickets: $10 for adults and $5 for children.

Tacky Sweater Party at Revelry Brewing Co – Enjoy live music, great beer and lots of ugly sweaters. Revelry invites you to snack on Boogie’s famous BBQ while you sip on one of eleven special holiday beers on tap including Geechie Boy Cream Ale and Pass The Lemongrass. Wear your ugliest Christmas sweater and prepared to get down!

Heal With Hearts Kids Drum Circle – Heal with Hearts is a non-profit organization which provides educational opportunities in the visual and performing arts for underprivileged children. Together with local band Sol Driven Train and the Charleston Pourhouse this event will teach young, aspiring musicians how to play the drums from beginner techniques to advanced rhythms. This event will take place on the porch of the pourhouse from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.

White Christmas Sing-Along  – Sponsored by the North Charleston Cultural Arts Department, this event will feature the Christmas classic White Christmas starring Bing Cosby which runs about 2 hours. This event will be held in Park Circle at the Olde Village Community Building.

Charleston City Night Market – The market starts at 6:30pm and ends at 10:30pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.  This is a fun atmosphere for the entire family! Enjoy local art work and food vendors. There is sure to be something for everyone!

12 Days of Christmas at Black Beards Cove – Guests are invited to 12 days of holiday fun with a unique event and special each day hosted by Black Beards Cove Family Fun Park. On Sunday, December 21st get in the Christmas spirit with ice cream sundaes and pictures with Santa!

A Sweet T. Christmas – Returning for a third holiday season is the laughingly lovely story of a heavenly stranger, a hapless handyman, a hopeless hostess, a hopping-mad Santa, and their hysterical hunt for the holy grail of wish granting, a winning lottery ticket! The show that has sold out the last two Decembers returns to the Black Fedora Comedy Mystery Theatre November 28 – December 27, 2014.

Now Through Christmas:

James Island festival of lights in Charleston, SCHoliday Festival of Lights – The Holiday Festival of Lights at James Island County Park is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year! This holiday Charleston staple has become the event that we all look forward to every year! Running now through January 1, it is estimated that this year features more than 2 million lights and 700 displays in a three mile loop.  $10 per car. Opens at 5:30pm each day and closes at 10pm. James Island County Park

Holiday Pub Crawl – Hosted by Rainbow Market Tours, this holiday-inspired pub crawl is a fun, 2.5 hour, interactive tour of historic Charleston while feasting on delicious appetizers and holiday drinks at some of Charleston’s most popular bars. Tours run now til New Years, each night at various times throughout the night. $30 per adult. Times Vary. Rainbow Market, 40 N. Market Street.

A Christmas Carol: The Play – Dock Street Theater has amazing performances now until Christmas of the classic tale of Scrooge. A nightly performance Thursday-Sunday until December 21. $22-$48. 7:30pm. Dock Street Theater, 135 Church Street.

Charleston Christmas Special – Enjoy a classic Christmas variety show with live performances by musicians, dancers and actors in this wonderful Christmas spectacular. It will definitely get you into the Christmas spirit! $25 per ticket. Times vary. Now until Christmas. The Charleston Music Hall, 37 John Street.
