Friday, September 20

  • Moonlight Mixer. Dance the night away on the Folly Beach Edwin S. Taylor Fishing Pier. This Charleston event will be held at the Pavilion at the end of the pier. Drinks will be available for purchase on-site; food will be available at Locklear’s Beach City Grill or the Gangplank Gift and Tackle Shop at the entrance to the pier. Advance admission is $10 for non-Charleston County residents, and $8 for residents. If the event is not sold out, tickets will be available the night of the event for $10 per person. (Please note: this weekend’s mixer kicks off the 40th anniversary celebration weekend of Folly Beach. See below for more details.)

  • Party at the Point. Bring your blanket or beach chair and enjoy the music of Old You, Sunday Best, and Annalise Morelli this week. Doors open at 5:30, and the first band takes the stage at 6:30. Cash bar. Cover charge $5 per person for this Charleston event.

  • Folly Beach 40th Anniversary Weekend. Celebrate all that Folly Beach is, was, and will be in this anniversary celebration, which will run through the weekend. Events include a film about Folly’s history, a 5K fun run, carnival, and live music events. For more details, visit the Folly Beach website.

 

Saturday, September 21

  • 42nd Scottish Games will be held at Boone Hall Plantation and will feature demonstrations of sheep herding, traditional Scottish dance, live music, and bagpiping contests. Come hungry as there will be many kiosks offering Scottish fare. 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Adults $20, children (5-12) $5, children under 5 free.

  • Folly Beach Fishing Tournament. The annual Folly Beach fishing tournaments continue this weekend. Register online or at the pier the day of the event. Fishing tournament runs from 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

 

Sunday, September 22

  • Zombie Run. This 5K will have you running for your life as zombies come out of the woods of Boone Hall Plantation. Can you make it through the course without being infected? Or, if you’d like to try your hand at being the undead for a while, register to be one of the zombies and get a different perspective on the run. Both zombies and runners need to register prior to the event; runners $60, zombies $35. The run will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and you choose which wave you would like to go in.
