32nd annual North Charleston Arts Festival – Head to the North Charleston Coliseum today through May 10 for an amazing, 9 day spectacle of visual, music and performance arts! The North Charleston Arts Festival is the most comprehensive arts festivals in South Carolina and features over a week of both free and for purchase events throughout the city! Over 200 activities, exhibits and performances will be held by artists of all avenues. Expect to liven your senses through theatre, dance, visual arts, media arts, and literature. North Charleston Coliseum and surrounding area, 5001 Coliseum Drive. Free and ticketed events.

THE MAIN EVENT will happen on May 3 and 4 at the coliseum and admission is free!

Party at the Point – This week’s lineup is Long Miles and South Street. Charleston Harbor Resort and Marina, 20 Patriots Point Blvd

French Quarter Art Walk – This quaint, ever popular art walk is back! Held seasonally, The French Quarter holds their art walks the 1st Friday of March, May, October and December! Walk the charming streets of the French Quarter while meandering in and out of one of the MANY art galleries in the community. You’ll view pieces from more than 500 local and nationally recognized artists. South Market Street and Tradd Street. Free to the public. 5pm-8pm.

Movies in Marion Square – Tonight’s feature film is Frozen! Bring your blanket and chairs (but no coolers!) to Marion Square for a fun movie night with the family! Corner of Calhoun St and King St. Free to the public. 6pm sharp!

Sweetgrass Music Festival – Enjoy the incredible views of the Charleston Harbor while listening to the bluegrass tunes of Common Ground, Barefoot Movement, Adkins and Loudermilk, and the Lonesome River Band. Music kick off at 2pm on Friday and goes through Saturday evening! This family friendly 2 day event is sure to please everyone young and old! Proceeds go to Charleston Studios, a non-profit organization that is focused on providing music arts programming to children of the Lowcountry. Patriots Point, 40 Patriots Point Blvd. Tickets sold at the gate, $25 for Friday, $35 for Saturday or $50 for both days.

7th Annual Dragonboat Festival – Combine fierce competition of local businesses and clubs with a massive outdoor party and what do you get? FUN!! Head to Brittlebank Park this Saturday for the 7th Annual Dragonboat Festival to celebrate cancer survivorship and the spirit of being alive! Enjoy live music, food and drink vendors and an amazing spectacle of team sportsmanship on the water! Dragonboats are comprised of 20 paddlers sitting in 2 columns paddling in unison. It is a SIGHT to SEE! Brittlebank Park, 170 Lockwood Blvd. Free to the public. 8:00am races begin

Fam Jam 2014 – In an effort to fight childhood obesity, Marion Square is going to turn into an a kid’s ultimate playground, offering all kinds of physical activities and physical challenges for kids of all ages. Karate, jungle gyms, trampolines, foot races, obstacle courses. This event will have it all. Marion Square, Calhoun Street and King Street. Free admission. 10am-2pm

Kentucky Derby Cocktail Party – Gear up for the finest Mint Julep’s the Lowcountry has to offer at this Kentucky Derby Cocktail Party hosted by King Street’s finest bar, The Cocktail Club. They will be serving up variations of Kentucky’s Mint Julep with southern cuisine to delight all!
