Weekend Events In Charleston On Friday, August 16th

Striped Pig Distillery Tours and Tastings – Join us for tours & product tastings, Thursday & Friday 3-7 and Saturday 12-5. The last tours begin at 6 P.M. on Thursdays and Fridays and 4 P.M. on Saturdays. We also carry merchandise, and of course, all of our spirits are available for purchase at the distillery as well as in liquor stores and at bars and restaurants in South Carolina.

Pre-Happy Hour @ Edmund’s Oast -Daily Pre-Happy Hour — from 3:00-4:30 p.m. Enjoy 12-ounce house beers for $3 each and a featured wine by the glass for $3 per half pour and $6 per full pour. Stop by any day of the week to enjoy this!

Carolina Kingfish Classic – A 2 day fishing tournament, don’t miss the boat! Join us for nightly beach parties from 5-9pm and enjoy live music, silent and live auctions, kids activities and more. On Friday, live Music with Holy City Steel Collective starts at 5 p.m.

Moonlight Mixers on Folly Pier – This event is fun for all ages and families are encouraged to attend to celebrate the return of summertime and to enjoy dancing in the ocean breeze. The Moonlight Mixer series runs through September on the Folly Beach Pier. DJ Jim Bowers will keep the fun going as he plays beach music and popular oldies.

Holy City Magic Grand Opening Weekend – Join Illusionist Howard Blackwell and Boston Magician Dave Chandler as they christen Charleston’s brand new magic theater!  Each of the 4 shows during the grand opening weekend will kick off with a cocktail hour featuring closeup magic at the bar, then enjoy a fantastic hour and a half show.

Music on The Green -The free, family friendly concerts featuring a variety of music from regional bands including Carolina Beach music, Motown, Top 40, Country and more! Tonight’s band is  HiCALIBER (formerly Port Authority Band). Vendors will be set up with food and beverages for purchase. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs.

Charleston City Night Market – The Charleston City Night Market is an exciting showcase of more than 100 talented artists and craftspeople that occurs every Friday and Saturday evening from April – December. The Night Market runs from 6:30 – 10:30 p.m and is a free event that is open to the public.

Jam on the Water:  Piedmont Boys – Classic & Outlaw Country Tribute– The sunset series sets sail on April 19th with 12 dates, each featuring a local or regional band playing a tribute to a classic rock band or a theme party aboard the Carolina Queen. Each cruise will run from 7 pm to 9:30 pm, with a pre-cruise gathering at Salty Mike’s from 5 pm to 6:30 pm.

Nightly Spirits Pub Tour – Nightly Spirits, the nation’s largest haunted pub tour company providing tours in 14 cities across the nation, is bringing its spooky ghost tales and lively tour guides to Charleston. 21st Annual IOP Half-Rubber Tournament – Games begin at 8:00AM; Lights will be turned off at 10:00PM (at the very latest). Games may be played on Sunday, August 18 if needed starting at 8:00AM. Captain’s Meeting: Saturday, August 17, 2019 at 7:30AM (games start at 8:00AM sharp).

Johns Island Homegrown Farmers Market – The aim of Homegrown is to be a point of sustainable connection for the Lowcountry community. Homegrown also holds a mission of bringing interactive ways to educate your community on the health and environmental benefits of making sustainable choices. Homegrown offers classes, demos, and interactive opportunities for locals to be active in making sustainable choices in their lives.

Dockery’s 100th Beer Release Party – The release party, to be held at Dockery’s on Saturday, August 17, 2019 from 2 pm to 6 pm, will feature live music, food specials, and most importantly, a can release for ‘Shoes Are the Future: Dancing Shoes.’ Four-packs of cans will be available for $14 each with a limit of two four-packs per guest.

Chefs Who Like Beer Dinner -This is a collaborative effort between Holy City Brewing taproom chef Joel Norman and Russ Moore of SNOB, RJ Moody of Spero, Brian Nelson of Keg Cowboy in Columbia, Bob Cook of Edmund’s Oast, and Jacques Larson of The Obstinate Daughter and Wild Olive. BSB Tailgate Takeover – Join BSB for the inaugural Tailgate Takeover, the ultimate tailgate competition in Charleston, SC. The categories for judging are Professional Judge Winner, People’s Choice Winner, and Overall Best Tailgate Design Winner.

Fireworks and Freedom Fest in Summerville – The Town of Summerville will hold the Fireworks and Freedom Fest – Independence Day celebration on Thursday, July 4, 2019, at Gahagan Park, located at 515 W. Boundary St. The family-friendly event will feature live music, food vendors, and a fireworks display at dark. Festivities begin at 6 p.m. and end after the fireworks display. The event is free to the public.
